Free Easter health event to support families caring for older relatives

A free community event is being held in Liverpool this Easter to support families who are caring for elderly relatives.

The “Health and Cuppa” event, organised by Holistic Care Services, a local homecare provider, will take place on the 20th of March at Springwood Church (All Souls) on Mather Avenue, from 12pm-2pm.

The session is aimed at adults who need help living safely, comfortably, and independently in their own homes, as well as family members who want practical information about supporting older relatives.

The event will be led by Dr Adekunbi Taiwo, a GP and Principal at Holistic Care Services. She will deliver a talk focusing on understanding dementia, including early signs to look out for and ways families can offer support at home.

A local physiotherapist will also attend to demonstrate simple exercises designed to help older people maintain muscle strength and mobility.

Free blood pressure checks will be available on the day, and attendees will be invited to stay for afternoon tea in an informal setting.

Dr Taiwo said the event has been designed to provide helpful information in a relaxed environment.

“Many families are supporting elderly relatives and may have questions about dementia, general health or staying active in later life. This event offers an opportunity to access clear information, speak to professionals and connect with others in the community.”

The event is free to attend and open to members of the local community.
